Damen Group has introduced Damen LoFlo and Damen BalCon two new ballast water (purchasing supply) processing systems to the market.
The new ballast water treatment system is a response to the International Maritime Organization's 2004 Ballast Water Management Convention, as it will soon be approved and the US Coast Guard's ballast water treatment rules are in force.
Damen pointed out that once the International Maritime Organization Convention has passed legislation, it is estimated that 60,000 ships around the world will require the installation of ballast water treatment systems. The BalCon ballast water treatment system has a processing capacity ranging from 100 to 750 cubic meters per hour.
