GAC Nisshin wants to push the middle market dump truck to launch in the year

On September 21, GAC Hino Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as GAC Hino) held the factory off-line production and 700-series heavy truck production off-line ceremony at Conghua Pearl Industrial Park in Guangzhou. At the scene of the event, the real igniting of the atmosphere was GAC Hino’s announcement of the 700 series heavy truck pricing.

As low as 340,000 yuan, but the highest but 602,000 yuan, the answer was announced.

Equipped with two engines P11C and E13C, there are 4×2 and 6×4 two types of drive, taking into account the 28 specifications of the tractor and the special chassis, supplemented by the 80% localization rate to bring this pricing, making GAC Hino’s strategy of hitting the “mid market” was demonstrated.

Make up short

For the GAC Group, the production of the Guangzhou Automobile Hino heavy-duty truck project is of great significance, which extends the production of Guangzhou Automobile to commercial vehicles and makes up for the shortcomings of Guangdong's commercial vehicle products. On the day of the event, relevant leaders of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce, relevant leaders of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, and Conghua City, as well as relevant leaders from GAC Group, Toyota, and Hino, all attended the event, which shows that the project is highly valued. A participating supplier told a commercial vehicle news reporter: “Commercial vehicles are shortcomings of the GAC Group after all. This time it is considered a supplement, and it is bound to receive support and care from all sides.”

From the perspective of GAC Hino's capacity planning for heavy-duty trucks, we can see the high expectations of all parties. The annual production capacity of 20,000 vehicles is only the first phase of the project. "Once the market is getting better, our production capacity will soon be able to rise." Xiong Guanghui, head of the Planning Management Section of the Guangqi Hino Sales Department, said: "The second and third phases of the project are all In the planning."

"High quality, high reliability, and high cost performance" are the "three-high summary" of Li Shao, the deputy general manager of Guangqi Hino, for the 700 series heavy trucks. For the domestic truck market, GAC Hino’s pricing and market strategy point to “more expensive than domestic high-end brands and cheaper than imported cars”, thus avoiding the entanglement of prices with other domestic brands. At the same time, in view of the quality and reputation of Hino Heavy Trucks, the cost reduction through localization, and avoid competition with imported heavy trucks, can maximize the advantages of GAC Hino heavy trucks.

Service will become a winner

The construction of a service network is highly valued. This is the premise of GAC Hino heavy trucks entering the market, and it is also the most important market entry strategy for GAC Hino. GAC Hino will introduce the 3S shop sales service model in accordance with the actual conditions of the domestic commercial vehicle market, and establish a service network that integrates “car sales, after-sales service, and parts supply” with the after-sales service as the core. In order to achieve nationwide 24-hour after-sales service, GAC Hino 3S shop after-sales service network has extended to the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, Jingjintang and large-scale mining, oil fields and other important economic areas. According to Li Shao’s introduction, GAC Hino has deployed more than 110 service outlets in China.

“In our view, heavy trucks need better services than cars.” Wu Zhanhui, head of the Guangqi Hino Technology Department, told reporters: “In terms of services, whether it be the selection of partners or the training of relevant personnel, GAC Hino has done a lot. Work, this is also in order to implement the corporate philosophy." Li Shao also repeatedly stressed that in the sales process, Guangzhou Automobile Co., Ltd. will focus on after-sales service, holding high the "service card."

It is between the domestic high-end and imported heavy trucks that the role of after-sales service is infinitely amplified. “The price is not too low, the service can't be done well, and the word of mouth is very poor. In the long run, the advantages of the brand and the product can't play a role,” said a heavy truck expert. As a newly-entered heavy-duty truck company, GAC Hino has made the strengthening of its after-sales service function a breakthrough. This is not surprising, especially after domestic heavy-duty truck companies have rushed to make new rounds, leaving new entrants with limited space and partners. “In general, the quantity of possession is directly proportional to the quality of service.” The expert further stated: “Guangxi Hino is bound to invest more energy in the service network. Only in this way can it truly reflect its market position.”

Dump trucks, 8×4 models ready to go

Although GAC Hino only launched two models of 4×2 and 6×4, Li Shaoye only disclosed the news that GAC Hino Dump Truck is expected to be launched at the end of the year. However, the reporter learned that the dump trucks of GAC Hino had already got an announcement, and the 8×4 model was already on the agenda. “The domestic heavy truck use environment is complex. The company will certainly gradually improve the product line to meet the market demand.” Guangqi Hino said: “This requires a step-by-step approach and many products are under planning.”

However, GAC Hino is still waiting to see the current popular 6×2 model. “We know that this model is now more popular with the market, but there are conflicts with the relevant national laws, so there is no related research and development.” Wu Zhanhui said that no matter how obvious the market demand, as long as the conflict with regulations, GAC Hino will not get involved.
