Kawasaki gas engine power generation efficiency reached the highest level in the world

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has developed a gas engine with a power generation capacity of 8 MW. The power generation efficiency is 48%, reaching the highest level in the world. In addition, in terms of the emission of nitrogen oxides, it is only 12 ppm in terms of O2 = 0%, achieving high environmental performance.

The gas engine features a Miller cycle with a larger stroke and bore design than other companies. This increases the knock resistance and fuel efficiency and increases the cycle efficiency. The machine uses a pre-combustion chamber type electric ignition method to burn gas. Since liquid fuel for ignition is not required, the cost can be reduced. As for the pre-combustion chamber, it is optimized by using techniques such as flow analysis to make the combustion more stable.

The cylinder diameter is 30cm, and there are 4 varieties in total, which are 12, 14, 16 and 18 cylinders. The power output range is from 5M to 7.8MW to meet the needs of different applications.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries will continue to conduct single-cylinder endurance tests on the machine to verify its durability. In the first half of 2007, it is planned to build a 7.5MW class power generation verification equipment within the company and begin to accept orders.
