The project adopts clean production technology of co-production of fertilizers and pulp, and uses the pulping process of black liquor in fertilizers to cook the cotton stalks, so that the papermaking black liquor containing a large amount of plant nutrients turns into humic acid drip irrigation liquid fertilizer. The project utilizes the rich cotton stalk resources and the advantages of large-scale drip irrigation in the Xinjiang cotton region. While producing pulp, it also produces drip irrigation liquid fertilizer, completely eliminates the black liquor pollution in the papermaking process, and realizes the high-value utilization of cotton stalk resources. .

The Western Action Project under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' process project, “Study and Demonstration of Key Technologies for Clean Utilization of Cotton Stalk Resources in Xinjiang,†has recently achieved successful one-time driving of the pilot production line. The papermaking black liquor has produced 30 tons of high quality humic acid drip irrigation liquid fertilizer and 4 tons of qualified packing paper. This technology will provide a new model for the high value of clean cotton stalk resources in Xinjiang.
